Club History/Background
In 2009 Remington Arms Company created the Remington Cutlery
Collector’s
Club (RCCC) to recognize and reward their
faithful followers.
The first year of the Collector’s Club was very exciting. We started by
offering
our first “Knife of the Year”, New Member Knife, and Junior Member Knife.
Our
first Board Meeting was hosted by the National Knife Museum and Smoky Mountain Knife Works in Sevierville, Tennessee, July 4th weekend. Later in the year we introduced our first newsletter, “The Remington Edge” and also offered an exclusive Club Binder to our membership so they could have someplace to keep their club information together and organized.
Going into the second year, we introduced the 2010 “Knife of the Year”, offered the 2008 Veteran Bullet Knife and 2009 Boy Scouts of America Knife to our membership both at special club prices. The Second Annual Board Meeting was hosted once again by the National Knife Museum and Smoky Mountain Knife Works on the 4th of July. This was a 2-day event featuring the Remington Truck, a Swap Meet under the tent, and a drawing for an 887 Camo Combo Shotgun. The second issue of “The Remington Edge” was also released later that year.
Now we have arrived in our 3rd year of the club and are looking forward to another exciting year. We are currently working on some awesome deals with the collector in mind. Watch the mail for the 3rd edition of ”The Remington Edge” to be published March/April timeframe at which time you will also have the opportunity to take advantage of our special offerings. Keep your eyes open for the 2011 “Knife of the Year” to be offered later in the year.

RCCC has offered four exclusive club knives thus far. The inaugural New Member Knife, RC6163, Senator pattern, featuring a handle of green smooth bone with the RCCC shield inlayed in the front side with 2- 440 Stainless Steel blades. Since Green is our signature color it was only fitting that we began the club with "Big Green" in mind. As a side note, the creation of our made in the USA knife line, the Heritage Series, we also used the signature green handle. You will find that when we create a new knife line in our made in the USA product category we most always kick it off with the color green. It's our good luck charm.
The main blade is a 2 11/16" Spey blade with the RCCC blade etch. The front tang stamp on the main blade is the last tang stamp to be used on the final production knives that left the manufacturing facility in Bridgeport, CT before it sold off all their cutlery assets and closed their doors. The back tang stamp is RC6163 pattern number and date code of production. The secondary blade is a 2 3/16" Pen blade. Both blades have long pull.
The New Member Knife also has two digit month and year engraved on the bolster representing the month and year you became a member of the club.
Each knife is shipped in a two piece box that is a re-creation of an old box pattern. We made a few altercations to incorporate the RCCC logo on the box. As well, we have a space on the left end for the production/packaging personnel to hand write the pattern number.
Our next exclusive member knife is the Junior Member Knife, Barlow Pattern, RBC41. When deciding which pattern to pick for the new member knife for our youngsters we knew we wanted a single blade with a mid-stop open and close feature. We also wanted to be sure that the pattern was a classic from the Remington archives so it didn't take long to come to the conclusion that the 3 ½" Barlow was the perfect pattern.
The handle is a green saw cut bone with the RCCC shield inlay. The single 440 Stainless Steel Clip blade has a long pull and the RCCC blade etch. The front tang stamp on the main blade is the last tang stamp to be used on the final production knives that left the manufacturing facility in Bridgeport, CT before it sold off all their cutlery assets and closed their doors. The back tang stamp is RBC41 pattern number and date code of production. (the "B" denotes the Barlow pattern. This was done on all Barlow pattern knives in the early Remington manufacturing days.)
As with the standard New Member knife, your Jr. Member knife will have the two digit month and year engraved on the bolster representing the month and year you became a member of the club.
Each knife is also shipped in a two piece box that is a re-creation of an old box pattern. Again, we made a few altercations to incorporate the RCCC logo on the box and left a space on the left end for the production/packaging personnel to hand write the pattern number.
Each year we will introduce a new “Knife of the Year”. In 2009, we introduced the Jack Knife, RC103, the first knife ever built in the Remington Cutlery manufacturing facility in Bridgeport, Connecticut in February of 1920. This jack knife pattern would go on to be made in many various versions but on the same template. For this reason, RCCC decided the Inaugural "Knife of the Year" would be none other than the RC103. For the Club exclusive purpose we have added the "C" next to the "R" on all pattern numbers created in the RCCC knife line. The "C" indicates the knife is a Club exclusive and carries the RCCC shield in the handle.
Since we introduced the first knife pattern ever produced by Remington in 2009, the first year of the club, we thought it only fitting to introduce one of the most collected patterns under the Remington brand in 2010, the RC1123 Trapper. Many of you may call this pattern by it’s nickname, “Bullet® Trapper”, which references to our famous Bullet® Knife Series. The Remington® trapper is one of the most collected patterns under the Remington® brand and was easily voted by the team as our year two “Knife of the Year”.
Each “Knife of the Year” is housed in a Moistureguard™ coated knife pouch for added protection and shipped in a specially designed wooden box - yet another RCCC Exclusive. It is our intent to introduce a different pattern each year while keeping within the same handle material, scroll work and blade etching to build a collection for our club members that they will cherish for years to come. Each year's "Knife of the Year" will be of the highest quality from USA factories.
